Villus in Small intestine
The small intestine absorbs nutrients into the blood via large numbers of villi.
Structure of a Villus
A villus is made up of a lacteal and a blood capillary.
1. Lacteal 2. Blood capillary
Absorbs fatty acids & glycerol Absorbs glucose & amino acids

Lungs & Alveoli
The lungs are the organs of gas exchange via high numbers of alveoli.
Gas Exchange:
Oxygen diffuses IN via nose/mouth from alveoli lungs.
Carbon dioxide in the blood capillaries alveoli & diffuses OUT via the nose/mouth.

Alveolus & Blood Capillary
At the start in the blood capillary there is high CO2 & low O2
At the end there is HIGH O2 & low CO2 in the blood capillary.

Features of Increased Absorption
Be careful on questions asking for structural features DO NOT say high numbers of villi/alveoli as this is not a STRUCTURAL feature: Be careful!
